Pitcher Finishes Season with 14 Wins, 183 Strikeouts

Atlanta Braves pitcher Charlie Morton has had an impressive 16th major league season. The 38-year-old right-hander started 30 games and pitched to a 3.64 ERA, allowing 66 earned runs in 163.1 innings pitched. He finished the season with a 14-12 record and 183 strikeouts.

Morton's 14 wins were tied for the most on the Braves staff. He also led the team in innings pitched and strikeouts. Morton's strong season helped the Braves win the National League East division title and advance to the National League Championship Series.

Morton was drafted by the Braves in the third round of the 2002 MLB draft out of Joel Barlow High School in Redding, Connecticut. He made his major league debut with the Braves in 2008 and has since pitched for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Philadelphia Phillies, and Houston Astros.

Morton is a two-time All-Star and was named the American League Championship Series Most Valuable Player in 2017 while with the Astros. He is a valuable member of the Braves' pitching staff and will look to continue his success in the playoffs.
