A Massachusetts native, Cook worked on "This Old House" for more than 35 years, providing expert advice and guidance on a wide range of landscaping projects.

He was known for his friendly demeanor, his passion for horticulture, and his ability to make even the most complex landscaping projects seem manageable.

Cook's death was announced by This Old House in a statement on its website. "We are deeply saddened by the loss of our dear friend and longtime colleague, Roger Cook," the statement read. "Roger was a true pioneer in the field of landscape design, and his work on This Old House inspired and educated millions of viewers over the years."

Cook's legacy will continue to live on through the countless homes and gardens that he helped to create. He was a true master of his craft, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his work on "This Old House," Cook also authored several books on landscaping, including "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Landscaping" and "Roger Cook's Landscaping Bible."

He was also a frequent guest speaker at gardening and home improvement shows across the country.

Cook is survived by his wife, Gail, and his two children, Jennifer and David.
